Looking Back at 2013

As October comes to an end and Christmas is just around the corner, 2013 will be history in the blink of an eye. What is the most exciting or moving thing you've done this year? No, it doesn't have to be something incredible or something that will impress all your peers. However, it has to be something that made your heart sing, or made you realize that you're one tough cookie or even made you struggle and grow in the process. At Lark and Peony, we look back on 2013 and realize how grateful we are for making a tiny difference in all the lives of the people we've come into contact with. From thoughtful emails about how much they...

Different Occasion, Different Looks

You have a wedding to attend, a Shanghai Night themed D&D or your engagement or pre-wedding photo shoot and you don't want to buy a fancy cheongsam just for one event and barely wear it till the next event. Or are you sporting that same party frock over and over and your friends are wondering if you have anything else in your cupboard that's not a little black dress. Fret not, we've thought about it too and our bursting wardrobes have been nudging us to do all the cheongsam-loving ladies with a crazy social calendar a favour. Thoughts on Shorts

I went on a short snowboarding vacay to Niseko, Hokkaido early Feb and in my excitement, I forgot to pack pants/jeans for the freaky cold weather. All I had on were shorts and leggings underneath! For Hokkaido weather, that was not the wisest move but I survived and I grew to love my woollen shorts so much that we're thinking of doing tailored shorts to go with our cheongsam tops for 2013. Seeing that it's currently Summer Downunder and it's always sunny weather in South East Asia so you might like what we have to offer. Let us know what you think and remember, always draw up a packing list for your holidays! We've been a little quiet because we've...

The Arms Race

It's less than 2 weeks from the Chinese New Year celebrations and although most of our cheongsams are cut to fit you well, it's always a bonus to have sexy, svelte arms to show off. Please don't say it's too late, it's never too late if you start today! We may not all be blessed with skinny arms so we'll just work with what we have. Make a promise to yourself to do a 10 minute arm workout every morning and/or evening and you'll be feeling great because exercising releases a feel good hormone and once you get hooked on it, you may just decide to continue this new found ritual well into and after the festive season. Remember, whether...

The Art of Flight

This dress pays homage to my favourite snowboarding film. Here's a peek into my personal collection (Read: Not for sale... ... yet). The traditionalists will be rolling their eyeballs at this piece but it's a personal favourite. Instead of using the same old fabric to create cheongsams, this was made using fabric for a boy's room. It's comfortable, breathable and most importantly, it screams FUN! There were choices of army green or black but blue was chosen because it made some of the parachutes look like clouds. Fluffy little shades of blue! Your cheongsam should say something about you and to me, this one says 'I love being up in the air and the thrills that come with flying. Every...
